Early Detection and Diagnosis Programme Award
Funds Early Detection and Diagnosis Programme Award, support for United Kingdom researchers developing innovations in early cancer detection and diagnosis.
The Early Detection and Diagnosis (EDD) Programme Award funds long-term, integrated and potentially renewable programmes of exceptional science to drive transformational change in how early cancers and pre-cancerous states are detected. Providing up to £2.5m over 5 years, the award is open to scientists, clinicians, and healthcare workers at UK universities, medical schools, hospitals, or research institutions. Multidisciplinary approaches — including physical, engineering, and data sciences — are explicitly encouraged. The scheme is closed: applicants must contact early.detection@cancer.org.uk first. Reviewed twice per year; upcoming deadline 21 July 2026. Sibling schemes: EDD Project Award (up to £500k/4 yrs) and EDD Primer Award (up to £100k/1 yr) address shorter-horizon needs.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
