UKDI Themed Competitions
Runs UKDI Themed Competitions, time-bounded funded contracts addressing specific defence and security challenges defined by Dstl and MOD customer.
UKDI Themed Competitions are time-limited procurement calls on specific defence and security challenges, run by UKDI on behalf of Dstl and MOD customers (British Army, Defence Medical Services, Home Office, NPSA, Royal Navy). Each competition targets a defined technical challenge area and carries its own budget, deadline, and eligibility rules. Themed competitions are distinct one-off events, not a standing programme: each is launched, funded, and closed independently. Multiple themed competitions can be open simultaneously. As of May 2026 three themed competitions are open: Biosecurity Frontiers (deadline 10 Jun 2026), Map the Gap Phase 3 (deadline 16 Jun 2026), and Rapid Transfusion Diagnostics (deadline 2 Jun 2026).
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
