Regen Innovation Catalyst Proof of Concept Fund
Provides proof-of-concept grants at the University of Edinburgh for climate innovation and sustainability ideas.
The Regen Innovation Catalyst Proof of Concept Fund supports University of Edinburgh researchers developing innovations that address climate change and environmental sustainability. It funds solutions at more advanced stages of development — prototypes, market exploration, regulatory approvals — to de-risk technologies and attract follow-on investment. New hypotheses and original research ideas are not in scope. The 2025 pilot had a total budget of £75,000 to fund 2–3 projects, with a maximum of £50,000 per application. Funded projects also receive tailored support from Edinburgh Innovations on IP strategy, legal requirements, regulatory/market advice, business advice, and prototype testing. Eligibility is restricted to University of Edinburgh researchers and academics.
