EPSRC Quantum Technology Research Hubs
Funds United Kingdom quantum technology hubs that connect researchers and industry through advanced national capability building.
EPSRC Quantum Technology Research Hubs sit inside the UK National Quantum Technology Programme and fund large, multi-year centres of excellence. The current Phase 3 portfolio comprises five hubs, started in late 2024, and the programme traces back to the first EPSRC quantum hubs in 2014. It is one of EPSRC's largest national platforms for quantum research. Phase 3 carried up to £97.5 million across the portfolio, with individual hubs funded at up to £19.5 million and running through 2029. The route is university-led, consortium based, and open to UK research organisations rather than companies or individuals. It is a grant programme, but the competition itself is closed until the next phase is announced. The scheme is aimed at teams that can assemble national capability around a clear technical theme, not at single-lab projects. Winning bids typically need strong cross-institutional leadership, industrial relevance, and enough breadth to sustain a hub for several years. A related skills call exists separately, so applicants need to match the right instrument to the right objective.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
