ESRC Responsive Mode: Secondary Data Analysis
Offers grants for social scientists to reuse domestic and international datasets in focused, time-bounded analysis projects.
This rolling programme funds social and economic research that exploits existing data resources — qualitative or quantitative datasets held by UK or international providers. Awards are capped at £300,000 FEC (ESRC funds 80%); project duration is up to 24 months. Social sciences must represent more than 50% of the research focus. Primary data collection, literature reviews, conference attendance, book preparation, and curriculum/software development are explicitly excluded as primary activities. Applications go through the UKRI Funding Service and must be submitted by the host research organisation.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
