Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC)
Funds film, high-end television, animation, and children's content creators with expenditure credits that encourage production in the United Kingdom.
Audio-Visual Expenditure Credit (AVEC) is the new above-the-line credit replacing the old Film Tax Relief, High-End Television Tax Relief, Animation Tax Relief, and Children's Television Tax Relief from 1 April 2025. Rates: 34% for film and HETV; 39% for animation and children's TV; 53% for the Independent Film Tax Credit (IFTC) for qualifying independent films with budgets ≤£15M (new from April 2024). AVEC is mandatory for new productions from 1 April 2025; the old reliefs remain available for productions with principal photography before that date until full sunset on 31 March 2027. Productions must pass the BFI Cultural Test (or qualifying co-production treaty) and spend at least 10% of total core expenditure in the UK. Credit is capped at 80% of total core expenditure or actual UK core expenditure, whichever is lower. Claim on Corporation Tax return (CT600). Productions must obtain BFI interim or final certification before claiming.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
