Innovate UK Business Growth, formerly Innovate UK EDGE, is Innovate UK's national business-growth and scaleup service for innovation-led SMEs across the UK. It offers one-to-one support from innovation and growth specialists rather than cash awards. The service sits alongside Innovate UK's grant offer, but its job is advisory support, market access, and financing readiness. Its service lines cover IP strategy, innovation planning, global ecosystem access, finance guidance, investment readiness, partnership building, and scaleup support. It is aimed at ambitious UK SMEs, and existing clients plus Innovate UK grant awardees continue to receive support. In May 2026, new requests were paused while the planning cycle ran, with more detail expected in Spring 2026. The service is most useful for firms that need growth advice, investor preparation, or route-to-market support more than a grant cheque. Because the offer is managed as a national support service, the practical test is whether a company has a credible innovation story and a need for specialist guidance. Companies that already have traction usually get the best value from it.
