Growth Cohorts: Next Generation Low Carbon Concrete

Innovate UK runs this two-stage cohort programme to accelerate decarbonisation of the UK concrete and cement sector. The programme will invest up to £11.5 million in total to assemble a cohort of up to 20 UK businesses with solutions across the sustainable concrete supply chain — including alternatives to Ordinary Portland Cement, additives, carbon sequestration, production efficiency, and concrete chemistry. Stage 1 (cohort entry) funds development of an innovation and growth plan, with a fixed £50,000 grant per business funded at 100%. Stage 2 funds delivery of those plans with a larger, separate pool. There will be up to 5 rounds of the Stage 1 entry competition between April 2026 and January 2028; Stage 2 is expected to open in February 2027 and remain open until December 2028.
