MS Society Project Awards
Supports established multiple sclerosis researchers in the United Kingdom through university and health grants.
The MS Society Project Awards sit within the Multiple Sclerosis Society UK's response-mode research portfolio and back hypothesis-driven MS projects that answer a single question or a small group of related questions. They allow up to 36 months of work and have no upper or lower funding limit, so the award is shaped more by the strength of the case than by a preset ceiling. Funding can cover research and technical staff, consumables, animal and human tissue costs, equipment, and conference travel, but not the salary of the lead applicant or co-applicant. Established researchers are the main audience, though junior researchers can also lead. Applications must be hosted by a UK university or NHS institution, and the funder says value for money matters alongside scientific quality. The round usually opens around October and closes in February, with outcomes in August. Applications are reviewed by scientists and by people affected by MS before expert panels make recommendations, which makes this a good fit for teams with a sharply framed question, a disciplined budget, and a clear line of sight to MS impact. The 2025 round funded 3 of 14 applications.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
