Pushing the Frontiers is NERC's flagship responsive-mode funding stream accepting rolling applications for curiosity-driven environmental science. No closing date; NERC initiates assessment upon receipt with regular decision points. Awards up to £950,000 at 80% fEC; international co-leads at 100% fEC. Projects typically 3–4 years. Target: 9 months submission to decision.
