The wider organisation says it has supported early-stage businesses since 2013 and operates with a small in-house team plus partner support, so the main track sits inside a larger, hands-on enterprise-support platform rather than a passive funding list. The main prize reaches £100,000 and is structured as 30% grant and 70% loan at 5% interest. It is aimed at early-stage companies and social enterprises across all sectors that are headquartered in Scotland, have traded for less than five years, and turn over no more than £1 million a year. Applicants enter through the online portal, submit a three-minute video pitch, and are assessed on value proposition, team, impact, customer focus, business growth, and how the money will be used. The competition now runs on a single annual cycle. This track rewards businesses that can show clear commercial pull, strong day-to-day director involvement, and a credible route to sales growth, including the potential to generate £200,000 or more in new sales within three years. Companies that have already won the main category are excluded, but the same application can be considered for the wider family of Scottish EDGE prizes, including younger founder and scale-up routes.
