UKRI Harmonised Impact Acceleration Accounts

Provides institutional blocks in the United Kingdom to fund proof-of-concept and translation through internal university calls.

UK Research and InnovationUnited KingdomGrant

UKRI's Harmonised Impact Acceleration Accounts (IAA) consolidate IAA funding from five research councils (AHRC, BBSRC, EPSRC, MRC, STFC) plus separate ESRC IAA into a single harmonised application process for institutions. NERC, Innovate UK, and Research England do not participate. Block awards go to 80+ eligible UK universities and research institutes, which then run internal calls for individual projects. Supported activities include proof-of-concept work, knowledge exchange, industry secondments, translation of research outputs, and multidisciplinary projects across council remits. The April 2022 to March 2025 tranche totalled over £117 million. Current tranche ended 31 March 2026; the next tranche has not been publicly announced.
