The West Midlands Innovation Accelerator (WMIA) is led by Innovate UK on behalf of UKRI, with WMCA acting as place-based co-funder. Phase 1 (2022–25) invested £100 million across 26 R&D projects. A further £30 million in public funding was allocated for 2025/26. Funding flows directly from Innovate UK to award recipients.
