AFRL/RD Tactical Broad Agency Announcement
Helps AFRL Research Directorate Tactical BAA for directed energy and electromagnetic technologies in service of military readiness.
AFRL/RD Tactical Broad Agency Announcement is the Air Force Research Laboratory's directed-energy contracting lane inside the Department of the Air Force. It is the FAR-based companion to DETER, supporting 6.1 through 6.4 research in directed energy with a ceiling of $499 million and a close date of 22 November 2028. The instrument is procurement-contract funding rather than an Other Transaction award. U.S.-registered for-profit firms, nonprofits, universities, and research organizations are eligible, while individuals are not. The geography is limited to the United States, and the solicitation is focused squarely on directed-energy research at the traditional contract level. Its role is straightforward: AFRL/RD gets a long-lived contracting route for applied research while DETER covers the parallel OT lane. Teams that already work inside defense research contracting tend to fit best, especially when the proposal is built around directed-energy problems at the 6.1 to 6.4 levels. Established performers with the compliance, staffing, and test capacity for a large contract action are the clearest fit.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
