AFWERX STRATFI / TACFI

AFWERX STRATFI/TACFI is the growth-stage bridge in the Air Force SBIR/STTR portfolio, designed to carry successful Phase II work toward Phase III scaling. TACFI is the tactical path for rapid transition, while STRATFI is the larger strategic route for higher-impact capabilities that need more capital to move into service. TACFI awards range from $375,000 to $2 million, and STRATFI awards range from $3 million to $15 million. The program requires matching funds from government, private investment, or both, and it is limited to U.S. small businesses on an active Phase II or within two years of Phase II completion. The Capability Package must be submitted by a Government POC, anticipated work must be performed in the United States, and the record excludes companies already executing a STRATFI effort. This route is built for teams that already have a credible transition path, outside funding aligned to scale, and a Phase II effort worth carrying forward. The strongest applicants arrive with a customer, a government sponsor, and a clean Phase II history, because the program is meant to accelerate transition rather than rescue an early concept.
