Supplemental Grant Program
Helps Supplemental Grant Program for federal I and II awards.
The Supplemental Grant Program sits under Innovate Alabama, the state's public-private partnership for entrepreneurship, technology, and innovation. It is Alabama's state match route for companies that already hold active federal SBIR or STTR awards, so it works as follow-on capital rather than a standalone research grant. Applications are currently closed. The program is a true grant route. Phase I recipients can receive up to $100,000 and Phase II recipients up to $250,000, both structured at 50% of the federal award. The cycle is annual, the geography is Alabama, and eligibility is limited to for-profit small businesses with active Phase I or Phase II federal SBIR or STTR awards and a proven business model or technology. This route favors companies that have already cleared federal review and need state support to keep development moving. The strongest applicants can show active federal traction, a clear commercialization path, and enough operational discipline to deploy the state match against the work already under way.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
