Talent Pilot Program
Helps Talent Pilot Program for-profit STEM and entrepreneurship workforce initiatives in Alabama.
The Talent Pilot Program sits under Innovate Alabama, the Alabama Innovation Corporation, and extends the state's innovation agenda into workforce development. Launched in April 2025, it funds for-profit entities that run STEM or entrepreneurship initiatives for Alabama learners and workers. Applications are currently closed, but the program remains a live part of the state portfolio. Awards are structured as one-year agreements with a cumulative cap of up to $350,000 per recipient. The route runs annually, is limited to Alabama, and is restricted to for-profit entities. The program serves K-12 students and educators, higher education students and educators, and the adult workforce, with prior Talent Pilot funding needing to be spent before a new application. The best fit is a provider that can show workforce impact, not just a general education idea. Work-based learning, regional reach, multi-organization partnerships, and rural initiatives are especially well aligned with the program's stated priorities, so applicants do best when the talent plan is concrete and tied to Alabama retention or attraction outcomes.
