ARL Broad Agency Announcement

Helps ARL Broad Agency Announcement for basic and applied research funding for academia.

US Army Research LaboratoryUnited StatesCooperative agreement

The ARL BAA (solicitation W911NF-23-S-0001) is the primary mechanism ARL uses to fund external researchers. It is a competitive solicitation for basic (6.1) and applied (6.2) research that supports ARL's mission to deliver cutting-edge innovative research for new Army operational capabilities. The BAA accepts proposals from universities, non-profits, for-profit companies (large and small), state and local governments, and foreign organizations. The process runs in three stages: (1) a preliminary inquiry to the relevant Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) for a research topic, (2) a white paper reviewed by the TPOC, and (3) a full proposal per BAA instructions. Award types include Single Investigator Awards, Short-Term Innovative Research (STIR) Awards, Early Career Program (ECP) Awards, Research Instrumentation (RI) Awards, and Conference and Symposia Grants. Note: this BAA is administered inside ARL by the Army Research Office (ARO) directorate; the ARO solicitation number (W911NF prefix) matches but the program is branded ARL-wide.
