Funds AIC-Bakar Award to support over years uc berkeley faculty climate research commercial potential.

The AIC-Bakar Award is a climate-focused track of the Bakar Fellows Program, created in partnership with UC Berkeley's Academic Innovation Catalyst (AIC). It provides $100,000 per year for three years ($300,000 total) to UC Berkeley academic senate faculty pursuing climate-related proof-of-concept research with commercial potential. Up to two awards are made annually, making this the most competitive of the three tracks. The award follows the same application process (3-page proposal, 2-page CV, brief budget, advisory board presentations) and the same restrictions (no faculty salaries, no teaching relief, equipment over $10K requires justification) as the core Bakar Award.
