Bakar Award — UC Berkeley / UCSF Collaborative
Supports joint research projects between UC Berkeley and UCSF faculty with three-year funding.
The UC Berkeley–UCSF Collaborative Bakar Award supports joint projects between UC Berkeley and UCSF academic senate faculty, providing $100,000 per year per PI for three years ($300,000 total per PI). Up to three collaborative awards are made annually. UCSF PIs must partner with a currently funded Berkeley fellow or, for the 'option b' pathway, must partner with fellows from specific earlier cohorts (Spark Awards 2022–2024; Bakar Prize Fellows 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022). The same restrictions as the core Bakar Award apply: no faculty salaries, stipends, or teaching relief; equipment over $10,000 requires justification.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
