Connects Investigator-initiated Type Diabetes research partnerships with milestone-based cooperative plans and direct scientist engagement.
Strategic Research Agreements (SRAs) are Breakthrough T1D's flagship investigator-initiated grant mechanism. PIs develop cooperative milestone-based research plans in direct partnership with Breakthrough T1D scientists, with quarterly progress reporting throughout the award period. Two annual Project Concept cycles (semi-annual pre-application gate) allow year-round entry. Successful Project Concepts are invited to submit full applications. Budget and duration are flexible — no fixed cap is published. The program is globally open to academic researchers.
