CFF Clinical Fellowship Awards are the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's MD/DO training awards for fellows building expertise in cystic fibrosis care and research. The portfolio has two active tracks: Education and Training for specialty development, and Research for fellows pursuing a CF-relevant project. Education and Training provides $73,000 per year in salary and benefits plus $2,000 per year for NACFC attendance for one to two years. The Research track provides $105,000 per year in direct costs for one to two years. Both tracks use a February annual deadline, carry no indirect costs, and are reviewed by the Physician-Scientist Training Programs Committee. The program is limited to US-based applicants in CF-relevant clinical training settings. It is best suited to physicians who can show a specific training or research plan, a committed mentor, and a clear link between the fellowship year and a future CF practice or investigator role. Applicants tend to fare best when the proposal treats the award as structured career development rather than generic support, with clinical responsibilities, research time, and training milestones spelled out clearly.
