Blue UAS Program
Connects United States. innovators with drone standards through national certification support pathways.
Blue UAS is DIU's certification program for unmanned aerial systems that need Department of War procurement eligibility. It verifies NDAA compliance and cybersecurity posture, and as of July 2025 the cleared list began transitioning to DCMA while DIU stayed on as a standards and certification partner. The program uses a two-tier model. Tier 1 covers the expanded cleared list for systems that pass third-party NDAA compliance assessments, while Tier 2 covers Blue UAS Select for systems that meet both cybersecurity and NDAA requirements with a DIU-generated or DIU-approved authority to operate. The value is access to procurement, not a cash award, and the eligibility bar in the structured record points to U.S.-registered for-profit companies that can show pilot evidence. The program is most relevant to drone manufacturers that already have flight-ready systems, can document supply-chain and code-security controls, and want a faster path into government procurement. Because the cleared list is moving to DCMA, companies also need to watch the administrative handoff and keep certification evidence current.
