DIU Replicator Initiative is the Department of War program that aims to field thousands of low-cost, attritable autonomous systems across air, ground, maritime and space domains. Launched in August 2023 and managed by DIU, it was built to counter mass by moving commercial autonomy into military use on a compressed timeline. Replicator 1 targeted all-domain attritable autonomy, while Replicator 2 shifted toward counter-small UAS after the 2024 announcement and battlefield lessons from Ukraine. The work runs through DIU's existing CSO and OTA prototype contracting paths, and the record points to software awards such as ORIENT for resilient command and control and ACT for autonomous collaborative teaming. The initiative is not a standing grant line; it is a defense delivery vehicle with phased prototype awards and follow-on potential. The best fit is a company that can prove operational value fast, integrate with military users and tolerate staged government evaluation. Teams that show usable autonomy, sensor fusion, command and control or counter-UAS capability are closer to the centre of the program than general robotics vendors.
