Tribal Energy Financing Program (TEFP / TELGP)
Helps Tribal Energy Financing Program for federally recognized Tribes developing energy projects.
The Tribal Energy Financing Program, also called TELGP, sits under the DOE Office of Energy Dominance Financing and provides partial loan guarantees and direct loans for Tribal energy development. It serves federally recognized Tribes, Alaska Native villages and regional or village corporations, and Tribal Energy Development Organizations. The program is a rolling U.S.-only financing route, not a grant program. The record gives it $20 billion in aggregate loan guarantee authority, and it notes that the Federal Support Restriction was eliminated in 2026, broadening eligibility. Individuals are excluded, and the route is reserved for the eligible tribal entities named in the statute and program materials. TEFP is most relevant when a tribal sponsor needs project finance for energy infrastructure, generation, or related development work. It is a better match for capital formation around a defined project than for exploratory research or general operating support. Teams that understand federal lending requirements and can structure a project around tribal ownership or control will be in the strongest position.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
