Laboratory University Collaboration Initiative (LUCI)
Connects United States defence scientists with university researchers for collaborative studies.
LUCI is a pilot program managed by the DoW Basic Research Office that pairs DoW laboratory scientists with university faculty for joint basic research projects. FY2027 competition was open as of March 2026, with a webinar held on 2026-03-05 ('Calling all DoW Scientists for the FY2027 LUCI Webinar'). The program requires an existing DoW laboratory partner — applicants cannot apply independently. As a pilot, LUCI may evolve into a standing program or be discontinued. The webinar announcement used the DoW branding ('DoW Scientists'), reflecting the operational rebrand.
