GRA Innovation & Entrepreneurship — Development Grants

GRA Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Grants sit under Georgia Research Alliance, the nonprofit public-private partnership that backs research recruitment, lab technology, and commercialization across Georgia's eight partner universities. This track follows the exploratory phase and is meant for faculty teams that have already identified a promising technology and need more capital to lower technical risk. Awards range from $10,000 to $250,000. Eligible work includes prototype refinement, technology validation, preclinical testing, pilot manufacturing, IP and regulatory analysis, and customer pilots. The grants do not pay indirect costs, and multiple awards are possible when a project keeps showing meaningful progress. Applications move through each university's designated GRA representative and are reviewed in six annual cycles. The strongest fit is a university team with a clear commercialization path, credible technical milestones, and enough traction to justify a larger next step than the exploratory grant can cover. It is the larger follow-on route when proof of concept is no longer enough.
