Manufacturing 4.0 Technology Investment Program
Invests in Iowa small and medium-sized manufacturers adopting smart technologies and industrial automation.
Manufacturing 4.0 Technology Investment Program sits under the Iowa Economic Development Authority and supports small and mid-sized manufacturers in Iowa that want to adopt smart technologies. It is aimed at production businesses, not broad general industry applicants, and the eligible technology buckets are Manufacturing Innovation Equipment and Manufacturing IIoT Infrastructure, including robotics, 3D printers, automation, cybersecurity tools, sensors, predictive maintenance, data analytics, augmented reality equipment, and RFID systems. The program offers matching grants up to $75,000 over the life of the business, with a 1:1 match requirement. Applicants must be incorporated or authorized to do business in Iowa, employ 3 to 124 full-time workers across all locations, operate in NAICS 31-33 manufacturing, derive at least 51% of revenue from manufactured goods, and have been in operation for at least three years. A CIRAS Manufacturing 4.0 assessment is required before the application window opens. The cadence is annual: the assessment window runs in the fall and applications open after it. The fit is strongest for manufacturers that can point to a specific productivity or data problem and tie the proposed equipment or IIoT spend to measurable operational gains. Teams that already have a clear implementation plan and good standing with the Iowa Department of Revenue are positioned to move fastest.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
