Illinois SBIR/STTR Match Program

Funds Illinois companies that have won federal innovation awards with state matching support.

Illinois SBIR/STTR Match is a state program run by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity that supplements federal SBIR/STTR-funded R&D through state matching support. It is aimed at Illinois-based small companies that already hold a federal SBIR or STTR award. The program follows an annual cycle and lists a 30 June 2026 deadline. It is positioned as a follow-on mechanism, so the most important eligibility condition is evidence of an existing federal award in the SBIR/STTR pipeline. Public program materials do not provide award amounts or match percentages. Companies with the federal-award prerequisite should contact DCEO for the current matching terms and filing requirements.
