MLSC ARC Awards (Accelerating Research through Collaboration)
Offers MLSC ARC Awards, supporting Massachusetts life-science teams advancing collaborative research and commercialization at early development stages.
MLSC's ARC Awards, short for Accelerating Research through Collaboration, back collaborative life sciences research in Massachusetts. Each project pairs a nonprofit academic or research institution, or a hospital, with at least one Massachusetts life science company, so the program is built around partnership from the start. The grant size reaches about $750,000 per project, the cycle is annual, and every award requires a postdoctoral scientist. The umbrella covers Bits to Bytes for data science, Novel Therapeutics Delivery for manufacturing and delivery technologies, and Women's Health for conditions affecting women or presenting differently by sex or gender. The current record places the program between cycles, with the next opening expected later in 2026. Applicants also have to accept open access for equipment and data generated through the award, which makes the program unusually public in its downstream obligations. MLSC reports that the portfolio has produced 65 projects, more than $145 million in follow-on funding, 250 publications, and 30 patents, so it is best suited to collaborative teams that can move research into broader use.
