MLSC Internship Programs

MLSC's Internship Programs umbrella supports paid internship placements across the Massachusetts life sciences ecosystem. It is one of the center's human-capital routes and is aimed at building early talent pipelines rather than financing research projects. The umbrella covers five tracks: Internship Challenge for college students and employers with 100 or fewer employees, High School Apprenticeship Challenge, Data Science Internship Program with placements of up to four months, the Ernest E. Just Life Sciences Initiative delivered with UNCF, and Project Onramp for first-generation college students. Employers range from companies to research institutions, and some tracks add pre-internship training, supervisor support, or a stronger equity lens for underrepresented participants. The program is broad in audience but specific in use: it subsidizes wages, opens access to life sciences work, and gives smaller employers a way to hire paid interns. The current record treats it as rolling, with hundreds of internship opportunities offered each year, and applicants use MLSC's internship contact channel rather than a generic grant competition.
