Industry 4.0 Technology Implementation Grant
Supports the Industry Innovation Implementation Grant, helping Michigan small manufacturers adopt modern tools for smart production.
The Industry 4.0 Technology Implementation Grant sits under the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and reimburses Michigan small manufacturers for the cost of adopting Industry 4.0 tools. The program is built around manufacturing modernization, with support for additive manufacturing, AI, robotics, automation, Big Data, cloud, cybersecurity, Industrial IoT, modeling and simulation, and connected worker platforms. It offers reimbursement awards of up to $25,000 and requires a 50 percent match. The eligible pool is narrow: NAICS 31-33 manufacturers only, with operations in the United States. Applicants also need Essential Member status with Automation Alley and either an Industry 4.0 Technology Assessment from MMTC or a documented technology strategy. Funding is drawn from a $3 million Michigan Strategic Fund appropriation and delivered through six statewide nonprofit administrators. The program suits firms that have already decided on a technology shift and need help absorbing implementation cost rather than building an idea from scratch. Its structure rewards practical adoption plans, a clear match source, and a manufacturer that can show why the new system will change production on the shop floor.
