NICHD SBIR/STTR

Supports small United States businesses building child health, reproductive, and pediatric innovations through federal pathways.

NICHD participates in the NIH-wide SBIR (R41/R42) and STTR (R43/R44) programs, funding early-stage product development by US small businesses in child health, reproductive biology, pediatric pharmacology, developmental disabilities, and medical rehabilitation. Phase I awards establish feasibility; Phase II awards support full R&D. NICHD topics align with its twelve scientific branches: from contraception and fertility through pediatric infectious disease, trauma, and rehabilitation technology. NICHD SBIR/STTR follows the standard NIH SBIR/STTR submission calendar with multiple receipt dates per year. Award ceilings follow NIH-wide SBIR/STTR budget policy; specific ceilings are set per solicitation. The program is open year-round via parent solicitations and may also issue targeted RFAs for specific disease areas.
