NIDCR SBIR/STTR

Supports small United States businesses advancing oral health technologies from early concept through market development.

NIDCR SBIR / STTR is the institute's small-business route into NIH's technology-development programs for dental, oral, and craniofacial innovation. It supports US companies that are developing products or platforms in this space, with Phase I used to establish feasibility and Phase II used to continue development. The program follows the standard NIH SBIR and STTR structure and runs on a multiple-times-per-year cycle with continuous submission. STTR adds a formal research-institution partner, which makes the route especially relevant when a company needs outside science depth to move a technology forward. The right applicants are small businesses with a clear commercial R&D path and a product idea that belongs in oral health, not a general-purpose technology that happens to have a medical angle. Because the route is built around company-led development, the strongest applications are focused, technically credible, and ready to show how the work moves from feasibility into a more mature development phase.
