NEI Research Project Grant
Supports small United States businesses partnering with research organisations on eye-focused technology innovation.
The R01 Research Project Grant is NIH's standard independent-investigator mechanism. NEI funds R01s across all ten of its extramural program areas (retina, cornea, glaucoma, lens and cataract, low vision, strabismus/amblyopia, collaborative clinical, training, resources, and small business). Applications go through standard NIH study sections. R01 applications must align with NEI strategic priorities. Program Directors encourage investigators to discuss proposed research before submitting. Standard NIH deadlines apply (February, June, October cycles for new applications; March, July, November for renewals).
