PennCHOP Microbiome Pilot and Feasibility Grant Program
Supports internal seed grants for Penn faculty to launch new microbiome research directions using program Cores.
The Pilot and Feasibility Grant Program issues up to seven awards per annual cycle: up to five general microbiome pilots, one matching pilot with the Penn School of Veterinary Medicine, and one with the Institute for Immunology. Awards are $40,000 per year for up to two years (year-two funding is a competitive renewal, not automatic). All applicants must be Penn faculty (Instructors and Research Associates included) who are US citizens or permanent residents holding an MD, PhD, MD-PhD, or DVM credential. Every funded project must use at least one of the six PennCHOP Program Cores, and awardees must articulate a path to extramural funding (R01/P01) in a required future-directions paragraph. The program is explicitly internal — external, for-profit, or non-Penn researchers are ineligible.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
