Innovation Voucher Program
Supports RI small businesses to co-develop science innovation projects with local research institutions or advance internal manufacturing innovation.
The Innovation Voucher Program supports Rhode Island small businesses through funding for R&D projects that drive growth and commercialization. Two voucher types are available: the Knowledge Provider Voucher, which funds partnerships with local colleges, universities, research institutes, or hospitals; and the Manufacturing Voucher, which funds internal R&D at RI manufacturers. Since inception the program has invested $8.1 million, leading to $56.2 million in follow-on private and federal investment — a roughly 7x return. Awards are up to $75,000 and the cycle runs annually in spring (March–April application window).
