AI2050 Fellowships support exceptional researchers working on key opportunities and hard problems in beneficial AI. The program runs two tracks: Senior Fellows (tenured or established researchers) and Early Career Fellows (within 10 years of PhD). The December 2024 cohort announced 25 fellows; the November 2025 cohort included 28 scholars across both tracks and received $18M in total. Individual fellowships are typically approximately $300K over two years, though exact award amounts are not published per-fellow. Selection is driven by Schmidt Sciences identifying researchers proactively — the program does not accept self-nominations.
