SpaceWERX TACFI
Provides Tactical Funding Increase smallerscale matching contracts for II awardees scaling to through the SpaceWERX TACFI.
SpaceWERX TACFI sits under the same U.S. Space Force innovation arm and fills the smaller-scale bridge between Phase II and Phase III transition. It is a U.S.-based, dual-use procurement-contract route that helps companies move from prototype completion to scaled military adoption. The program covers $375,000 to $2 million on the SBIR side and also expects matching government and private capital. A U.S. for-profit company must hold an active or recently completed SBIR or STTR Phase II contract, with work typically at TRL 4 to 7 and in space or dual-use defense/commercial fields. In the captured cycle, TACFI PY26.2 was listed as coming soon, while the main STRATFI cycle was still rolling. TACFI matters for companies that have already proven their core technology but do not yet need the larger STRATFI scale-up. The route is deliberately selective and partner-led, with submission documents distributed through government channels rather than a public self-serve portal. Hyperspace Challenge alumni in the source material point to TACFI as the next step after a successful Phase II award.
