The Transportation Alternatives (TA) Set-Aside Program, funded under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), provides approximately $250 million for bicycle, pedestrian, and active transportation infrastructure projects in Texas for fiscal years 2027–2029. Eligible applicants are local governments, MPOs, school districts, tribal governments, and nonprofits with transportation responsibility. For-profit businesses are not eligible. Large urbanized areas (population over 200,000) have their funds administered through Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) directly; TxDOT administers funds for smaller communities. The FY27–29 detailed application deadline was June 20, 2025 (past); the next call is expected around 2027 for the FY29–31 cycle.
