Specialty Crop Research Initiative (SCRI)
Funds interdisciplinary agriculture projects for specialty crops across production, processing, and market readiness.
SCRI provides up to $175 million per year to support integrated research and extension projects addressing critical challenges facing the US specialty crop (fruit, vegetable, tree nut, horticulture) industry. Projects must be transdisciplinary, integrating knowledge from multiple disciplines with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. In FY2026 applicants compete in two stages; the first stage is an Industry Relevance Review. The program targets five focus areas: plant breeding/genetics/genomics; pest and disease threats including pollinator threats; production efficiency and profitability; new innovations and mechanization; and food safety hazard prevention and control.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
