Clean Energy Grants
Funds clean energy deployment in Washington for technology projects across sectors.
The Clean Energy Grants program combines three historically separate funding streams — the Clean Energy Fund (CEF), Clean Energy Community Grants, and Solar & Storage Grants — into a single annual RFA administered by Commerce's Energy Division (EPIC). The 2025 cycle distributed ~$32 million to construction-ready projects across solar, energy storage, grid resilience, wind, biomass, renewable hydrogen, geothermal, and other renewable resource technologies. For-profit companies are explicitly eligible alongside nonprofits, utilities, local governments, research institutions, and tribal entities. Projects must be construction-ready and able to complete by June 2027. Awards range from $50,000 to $2,500,000 per project. Prioritization favors vulnerable and overburdened communities including tribal nations. Funded by Washington's Climate Commitment Act cap-and-invest revenue.
