CARE
Supports research reducing women's Alzheimer's risk through endocrinology-based biomarker and imaging discovery.
CARE (Cutting Alzheimer's Risk through Endocrinology) is part of Wellcome Leap's $50M new women's health initiative. The program targets a 50% reduction in women's lifetime risk of Alzheimer's disease — potentially preventing 54.5 million cases globally by 2050 — through three thrust areas: biomarker development, neuroimaging, and predictive modeling focused on hormonal and endocrine mechanisms. Eighteen research teams led by PIs from institutions including UCSF, UC San Diego, Temple University, and University of Cologne have been selected and are in active execution.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
