Delta Tissue
Funds tissue profiling platforms enabling early disease detection and clinical intervention.
Delta Tissue is a Wellcome Leap program focused on profiling tissue states and predicting the transitions that mark disease progression. It is built around an early-detection idea: identify the move from healthy to diseased tissue in time for present-day intervention. The program budget is $55 million, and performer teams have already been selected. The record places it in mid-execution and adds a strong accessibility requirement: deliverables must work across academic centers, startups, SMEs, biopharma companies, and clinical settings. The program is directed by Jason Swedlow, PhD. The strongest teams will be able to turn tissue profiling into a platform rather than a one-off assay. That means combining technical depth with a credible path to deployment across very different operating environments. It is a fit for groups that can link biomarker discovery, computational analysis, and clinical adoption. Its appeal is translational as much as scientific, because the core promise is not only better measurement but better timing for intervention.
