XPRIZE Quantum Applications
Helps XPRIZE Quantum Applications for quantum algorithms with real-world impact in health.
XPRIZE Quantum Applications is an active prize competition under the XPRIZE Foundation, running from 2024 to 2027 with Google Quantum AI as title sponsor and GESDA as presenting sponsor. It sits in the foundation's deep-tech portfolio and is open globally for work in health, climate, energy, and materials science. The purse totals $5 million. Phase I is complete and Phase II is active, with seven finalist teams announced in December 2025 from 133 submissions across 31 countries. A Phase II wild-card registration window ran from January 14 to March 4, 2026. Eligible entrants can include subject-matter experts, enthusiasts, startups, student teams, and amateurs, and the competition does not require a prototype. The judging framework is explicit: projected real-world impact, the quantum resources required to reach an advantage, the strength of the supporting evidence, and the novelty of the approach. That makes this a competition for teams that can explain both the algorithm and the case for advantage with precision. The strongest entries are likely to connect a specific problem to a defensible quantum claim rather than offer a broad promise of future utility.
