DSI Technology Innovation Programme (Programme 2)
Funds national innovation across space, energy, and advanced technology fields in South Africa.
DSI's Programme 2 is the internal strategic framework for Technology Innovation, covering five sub-components: Bio-innovation (health, agriculture, agro-processing, IKS-based applications), Hydrogen and Energy (HySA programme, energy RDI), Space Science and Technology (National Space Strategy implementation via SANSA), Innovation Priorities and Instruments (nanotechnology, photonics, synthetic biology, robotics commercialisation), and NIPMO (IP management of publicly funded R&D). For most end-applicants, access to funding under this programme flows through delivery partners: TIA handles commercialisation-stage funding; NRF handles research infrastructure and researcher grants; SANSA handles space-related work. Direct DSI engagement is primarily for policy, strategy, and coordination roles — not open competitive grants.
Each grant below is a distinct funding opportunity with its own eligibility, scope, and deliverables.
