The DSTI-NRF Postgraduate Scholarships are the NRF's flagship individual student funding programme, co-funded and co-branded with the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI). They cover Honours, Master's, and Doctoral students in all areas of Science, Engineering, Technology, Social Sciences, and Humanities at South African institutions. International students are eligible for Partial Cost of Study (PCS) up to a 5% quota. Full Cost of Study (FCS) funding is reserved for South African citizens and permanent residents who are financially needy (household income ≤ R350,000/year), living with a disability, or exceptional academic achievers. Minimum entry requirement is 65% average for the prior degree. All applications are submitted through NRF Connect; no manual applications are accepted.
