Stanford Bio-X is Stanford University's interdisciplinary biosciences institute, catalyzing high-risk, high-reward research across biology, engineering, and medicine. It seeds cross-departmental faculty teams whose proposals are too ambitious or speculative for traditional federal funding. Since 2000 it has funded 277 projects spanning all seven Stanford Schools, generating over $400 million in downstream external grants. All programs are Stanford-internal only — faculty, PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and undergraduates affiliated with Stanford.
