The Bio-X Interdisciplinary Initiatives Program (IIP) Seed Grants fund early-stage, high-risk collaborative research in bioengineering, biosciences, and biomedicine that spans multiple Stanford schools. Awards of up to $200,000 over two years target proposals unlikely to attract traditional federal funding at this speculative stage. Since 2000, 277 projects have been funded across all seven Stanford Schools, with 440+ faculty participating and over $400M in external follow-on funding generated. The most recent cycle was Round 12, awarded September 2024.
