AFRL Munitions Directorate (RW) is the Air Force Research Laboratory office at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, focused on air-delivered weapons systems. It funds applied research and advanced technology development in missile guidance, propulsion, warheads, fuzing, autonomy, and engagement management, and it is being folded into AFRL's new Air Warfare Directorate after the April 2026 reorganization.

Funding comes through BAAs rather than standard grants, with cooperative agreements, procurement contracts, and other transactions as the working instruments. The active routes include the Air Delivered Effects BAA and the Air Dominance BAA, each with a $750 million ceiling, and the eligibility set reaches small businesses, universities, and 501(c)(3) nonprofits.

As of May 2026, applicants are still being routed under RW codes while the administrative cutover is completed, so the transition has not changed the way proposals are submitted. For teams that can operate inside defense R&D timelines, the office is a large-scale entry point into conventional munitions, aerospace, and autonomous systems work.
